What penpAI is
On PenpAI, you create your own cast of penpals to text with in your target language. They text you actively, sporadically. You text back when you want. You look things up that you don't understand, copy their phrasing, experiment. Exactly like texting a native friend — except they're always available.
If you're anything like me - bored of games and a hater of gimmicks - wanting just pure and powerful progress, then you'll get a lot from penpAI.

Translate & save: Whether from an article or a friend's text, translate and save words you encounter out in the wild. Your penpAIs see what you bank — they'll use those words to message you sporadically, like a friend would. Not a drill or memorisation dead end. Just a natural text exchange, sneakily using your saved words.
Experts: Give penpAIs a domain expertise — olympic swimming, research mathematics, whatever floats your boat. Your personal expert will then text you (as regularly as you make them) to bring that world's vocabulary to life, in their own terms and voice. Expect to receive and send voice notes, too!
Stories & calls: penpAIs post stories — verbs of the day, phrases or slang of the week, discovered through social-media style posts designed purely for language discovery. And when you're ready, make (and soon receive!) voice calls with your penpAIs to practice your speaking.
